Learn to hack Unix systems! This workshop will teach you some tricks and techniques to hack your computer. Learn to master your machine using the command-line interface (CLI), an application vital everything: LLMs, chatbots, system repair …everything! Everyday programming requires the knowledge and skill to seamlessly configure and manipulate the computer. Crash courses are designed to introduce you to hacking Unix while (technically) having fun breaking things!

These skills are especially important for the following careers: Cyber Security, A.I./Machine Learning, IT System Administrators, Game Development, Web Development

Workshop Details

You will learn system commands and techniques to control Unix systems. For the entire workshop you'll be hands-on, in a Terminal with your instructor, breaking things and fixing them! We'll cover basic commands, file system navigation, permissions, environment configuration, system monitoring, package managers, and basic networking tools. We'll even hack together some scripts! Your goal is to sharpen your technical skills and understand what hacking is all about.

The Unix terminal continues to be one of the most important daily tools for software developers. Mastering the Terminal is among the easier skills to improve. 

Training Modules:

  1. Unix Operating Systems: A technical introduction to the file system and permissions.
  2. The Terminal: Learn how to manipulate the computer from a terminal using the Command Line Interface (CLI). You'll become adept at navigating the file system from a small black window. Includes: system permissions and package managers.
  3.  System Configuration: A dive into file system management and system environment configuration.
  4.  System Command & Control: Monitor system processes and control them from the CLI.
